Students, faculty,
community members invited to participate
What: Campus and Community Sustainability Conference: Sharing Best Practices and Visions for Florida's Future
When: October 25-26th, 2006
Where: Reitz Union, University of Florida, Gainesville
Who: You! And other faculty, students and staff from Florida's academic institutions, Florida citizens interested in sustainability, and community leaders from government, NGO's, and business.
Why: To establish stronger relationships between institutions and their communities, and to emphasize the role of higher education in creating a more sustainable future.

Sustainability Report Card
UF president updates on university progress
As part of the UF Campus and Community Sustainability Conference, President Machen will be giving his annual "sustainability report card" for the University of Florida on Wednesday, October 25, at 9 a.m.
In last year's address, President Machen highlighted the University of Florida's recent achievements in sustainability and set goals, including making the university zero waste by 2015.
Carl Hiaasen - Keynote Speaker
Best-selling author to speak at conference
Carl Hiaasen, the best-selling author of such books as "Skinny Dip," "Sick
Puppy," and "Striptease," will give the keynote address at UF's sustainability
conference on October 26.
Game Day Recycling Takes Off
The Green Team is talkin' trash on game days.
In partnership with Keep Alachua County Beautiful, UF volunteers are keeping tons of tail-gator cans and bottles out of the landfill. An estimated 14,000 lbs of trash will be recycled into new cans, bottles, fleece jackets, and other products after this football season.
